January is always a slower month for photographers as far as photographing portraits, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t busy. January is one of the busiest times of the years for wedding photographers. This is when the bridal shows start because of all of the holiday engagements. I participated in one bridal show in January and booked half of my weddings for the year because of it, in the month of January alone! That meant that I was very busy meeting with brides and grooms all month long! The moral of the story….if you are planning on booking a wedding photographer, do it early before they are booked up!
This year for the New Year, we held our first New Year’s Baby contest. Anyone who was expecting around New Year’s Day could enter on our website and the mom who had her baby first for the New Year was declared the winner. Our New Year’s Baby was born on January 1st and the mom and dad won a FREE newborn portrait session in their home!
I also spent a lot of time in January re-modeling my studio. I got rid of the beach set and retired the egg and nest and constructed a new set. I also went to an all day seminar on chromakey, which was helpful since I have been doing my green screen photo booth for a while now. I did have a few babies and children come to my studio for portraits.
I took some head shots for a couple of businesses.
I even had a few puppies come in for their newborn photos!
I had one expectant mother come in for her maternity portrait session.
I took my Kurt’s Kustom Keepsakes green screen photo booth to Nick and Jimmy’s Restaurants employee holiday party, which was a ton of fun!
We also took our photo booth to St. Joseph’s School 6th annual benefit dinner. Everyone had fun with the backgrounds I created to fit their theme of “Odyssey on the Orient Express.”
