~ Jessie W.Wedding Planning is hard, let's face it. Your wedding professionals have ways of doing things, but have you ever wondered why things are done the way they are? Well, let me help explain things as I am answering the questions you probably already have.
I only photograph between 12 and 18 weddings each year. I can and often do get booked out between 1 and 2 years in advance. But I don't typically book a couple until they have their wedding venues already booked. This saves both of us the headaches of trying to reschedule should something happen with their date.
So the very first step after booking your venue is to contact me to see if I am available for your date. If I am available, we will pick a time to meet to go over the details of your wedding day. I usually meet at my studio in Sylvaia so I can show you examples of my work from previous weddings, and answer any questions along with providing you with any recommendations you may need. I prefer to schedule everything via phone because we can get all the times and details more quickly than we can over an email. And my schedule can change before you even answer an email.
While at your free consultation, we can go over any questions or concerns you have. We can create a wedding day photography plan with the information you have so far, and fill out a contract. If you need more time to think things over or have other wedding photographers you still need to meet with, I can hold your date for a few days longer. However, I can not hold it indefinitely without a signed contract and retainer. If someone else inquires about your date before you sign the contract, I will let you know so you can let me know your decision. At the same time, if for some reason you choose to go another direction, please let me know. Many of my wedding consultations are after hours and I'm already finished for the day and would rather be home than waiting for someone that doesn't show up.
To secure your date, you do need to sign the contract and pay the required non-refundable retainer fee. This retainer fee will go towards your wedding photography pricing. You will find that most of your wedding professionals do this to hold a date. This is because once we book you, we can no longer book any other couple and many times turn down couples looking for your date. If you decide you no longer need my photography or photo booth services for whatever reason, the non-refundable retainer is to make up for the money we lost due to not being able to book anything else. It also guarantees that you will use our services and not hire someone else after you sign with me. It also lets you know that I will be there on your wedding day ready to photograph your memories.
Once your contract is signed and the retainer is paid, we can schedule your complimentary engagement photo session, if it is included in your package. The engagement session is scheduled for approximately one hour in length. You can pick a location within 30 minutes of Toledo, or we can go to my go-to-spot at Wildwood or at my studio. You can bring 2-3 outfits but please keep in mind that changing may be an issue depending on where we go. After your photo shoot, you will receive your images within two weeks, usually in just a few days. You can use these images for your save the dates, decorations at your wedding or whatever you wish.
The final step is two to four weeks before your wedding date. We will meet to go over all of the final details and plan out your timeline for photos. You will also need to make any final payment at this time. If you are having one or more of my photo booths, we will also need to get those details finalized. This will be the green screen backgrounds or the start screens for the mobile booths and the intro and outro slides for the 360 video booth, etc.
That's it until the wedding. After the wedding you can expect to receive your digital photos within six to eight weeks unless informed otherwise. All images will also be uploaded to a secure website for you to share with your friends and family so they can also see them. I will provide you with a print release to have your photos printed at any print lab of your choosing. I will also print out a contact sheet, multiple photos on one sheet, of all of your images for you to use as a reference for printing an album or ordering prints.
That's it! Easy peazy! More photos, no drama!
