Toledo Wedding Photographer | How much will your wedding cost? | Wedding Jewelry | Part 3

This is Part 3 of our series of blogs on “How Much Will Your Toledo Wedding Cost?” and for this I am focusing on wedding jewelry.  According to CostOfWedding.com, the average Toledo bride and groom spend between $1,384 and $2,306 for wedding and engagement rings.  If they want custom or designer rings, then they spend between $2,768 and $3,690+.

The Cost of Wedding Website lists the average cost for a Toledo engagement ring at $2,714 with couples spending between $2,036 and $3,393 for the ring.  Logically speaking, I’m not sure why they include this cost in the overall wedding budget.  After all, this is usually an expense the groom incurs prior to any wedding planning.  Of course, there are times when a guy proposes without a ring and lets the bride-to-be choose the ring that she wants.  He could also work out a payment plan with the jeweler and maybe that is why it is included.

This same website lists the average price of weddings bands at $990 with Toledo brides and grooms spending between $743 and $1,238 for both bands.  It also says that for custom bands, you would spend between $1,485 and $1,980+.  Always remember that if you have any engraving done or purchase a maintenance plan, there will be additional fees involved and you should include that when you set your budget.

There is nowhere in this report that I can find that includes wedding day jewelry.  If you are going to be wearing new necklaces, earrings, bracelets, anklets, cufflinks, or anything else that you want to buy specifically for your special day, you should also make sure you include that expense in your overall wedding budget.  If you can’t afford to buy new, this could be your something old or something borrowed.  Many jewelers offer discounts on the wedding bands if you buy them at the same place where the engagement ring was purchased.  They also often times have sales and you could save big if they do.

As I stated earlier, these are just estimates from CostOfWedding.com.  The amount you will actually spend will vary greatly depending on your taste, location and ideas.

Toledo Wedding Photographer | How Much Will Your Wedding Cost? | Ceremony and Reception Venues | Part 2

This is Part 2 in our blog series “How much will your wedding cost?”.
Toledo Wedding Photographer
Since the first thing you will probably book for your wedding day is your ceremony location and reception site, let’s review what that “generally” costs on average.  According to the Cost of Wedding website, Toledo couples spend between $4,255 and $7,091 for this part of their budget.  Obviously, this is a big part of the budget, so what does this include?  This includes the ceremony location and accessories like the aisle runner, ring pillow and unity candle.  This figure also includes the ceremony officiant, rehearsal dinner, wedding cake and the hotel room for after the reception.  Some religions make you take pre-marital classes before you can get married.  I’m not sure if that is included in these costs or not, so you may want to check that out for yourself.  This amount also includes the reception location, reception bar service, and reception food service (caterer).  The cake topper, serving set, toasting flutes (champagne glasses), lighting, chair, table and tent rentals for outdoor receptions, and photo booth rentals are also included in this figure.  This does not include flowers or decorations for either the ceremony site or reception site.

Obviously, depending on the sites you choose, this number can drastically increase or decrease.  It is a good idea to check out pricing for venues and caterers prior to scheduling an appointment to meet with them, especially if the place you want to have your reception is way out of your actual budget price.  Several places require you to use their catering service and bar, and that number must be figured into your budget accordingly.  However, there are some venues that will allow you to hire your own catering company or even bring in your own food and alcohol.  It’s always a good idea to check this out no matter where you plan to have your reception.  Also be sure to find out if they have discounts for off season weddings or Friday or Sunday weddings.  Many places offer different prices for these times.

Another thing to remember when planning your final guest list is to include your wedding vendors that will be at your wedding reception.  Although it is not required, it is greatly appreciated when you do feed them.  After all, they do need to eat also, especially if they are going to be with you most, if not all, of the day.  With this being said, I know some people would rather not have the hired help sitting among their guests.  At the same time, if something happens that you want to have photographed, videoed or a special announcement made or song played, if these vendors are seated in a different room or area when they cannot see what is going on with your guests, you won’t have that option.  It’s a good idea to put them at a table together in an area where they can get up quickly without bothering the rest of your guests.  It’s ok to sit them in that dimly lit corner area where you would rather not seat your wedding guests.  Just remember, that if they have to go all the way across the room to get to their equipment, the opportunity that you want captured may be missed.

He popped the question, now what?

Toledo Engagement PhotographerEvery wedding planner, magazine and website tells you that the first thing a bride should do after becoming engaged and setting a date is to set a realistic budget for the wedding.  But, how do you do that if you have no idea what it costs for a wedding?  Hopefully I can break down what you will be spending your money on and give you a ball park figure to help you, and maybe remind you of things you may have forgotten to include in your overall wedding budget.
Wedding Photographers Toledo OhioThe information used in this blog series is from WeddingReport.com and CostofWedding.com.  This is by no means the actual costs you will incur for these items for your wedding.  It is merely an estimated average based on several factors which is explained on WeddingReport.com under Methodology and was gathered from over 11,000 surveys from different sources for actual 2011 weddings.  Your actual wedding budget will vary depending on the things you choose to spend your money and the importance you place on each item to make your wedding day the fairy tale wedding you have dreamed of.  You should expect to pay more than the average for experienced professionals, designer labels, custom products, and popular venues and dates.  At the same time, you hopefully can save money with some do it yourself items if you are crafty, sale items, and a smaller guest list.  Just remember, for the do-it-yourself items to plan your time accordingly so you don’t add more unwanted stress to yourself.

Let’s start generally speaking.  On average, in the US, couples spend $25,631 for their wedding with the majority of couples spending between $19,233 and $32,039.  Locally, for a Toledo wedding, couples spend between $16,100 and $26,833.  This also depends on location like suburbs and outlying areas.  For example, a Sylvania wedding costs between $19,896 and $33,160 (slightly higher) and couples that live in Temperance, MI spend between $18,214 and $30,356 (slightly lower).  Out of these figures, Toledo weddings average between 137 and 151 guest at a cost between $134 and $164 per guest; Sylvania weddings average between 152 and 166 guests at a cost between $150 and $184 per guest; while Temperance weddings average between 136 and 150 guests at a cost between $153 and $187 per guest.

For the rest of this blog series, I am going to refer only to Toledo statistics and numbers so I don’t overwhelm you with too much information.  This is, after all, just an aid for you to use to help with planning your own budget, and not your real wedding budget.
