Tamara and Bobby’s Destination Wedding by Kurt Nielsen Photography

Tamara and Bobby were married at St. Mary on the Lake in Manitou Beach, Michigan on July 9, 2011.  They are true high school sweethearts.  I have been photographing Bobby and his family for years and was very honored when they asked me to be part of their special day.

My day started by getting some images of the bride getting ready.
Then we headed into the sanctuary for some fun and formal photos.
Don’t worry, I did manage to get some of the groom as well.
Their traditional marriage ceremony was beautiful.
After the Bridal Party Recessional, we headed back into the church for some more photos of the newlyweds and family portraits.
Then it was off to Devil’s Lake Golf Course for some more photos and a little bit of golf.

The bridal party mode of transportation to the reception was the family’s pontoon boat, so we headed to their cottage and took a few images before they departed.
Then it was off to the reception at Devil’s Lake Yacht Club, or so they thought!  The boat didn’t start!
Turns out, someone, and I won’t name names, left the boat’s battery on all night and so they replaced the battery.  Then they really did take off to the reception under the tent at the Yacht Club.
On the way to the reception, the bride ditched her vail and traded it for a new headpiece.
Here are a few images I managed to capture of the reception while waiting for the newlyweds and wedding party to arrive.
After the Bride and Groom finished their first meal as husband and wife, we sneaked out onto the grounds of the Yacht Club for more photos while their guests finished dinner.
It was then back into the tent for more of the wedding festivities, including the couples first dance.
The musical entertainment for the evening was provided by the Toledo local band Skoobie Snaks, and everyone had a great time dancing to them.
When the sun began to set, we sneaked out of the reception one last time for some more photos down by the water.
Later in the evening, the groom and his groomsmen jammed while part of the band was taking a well deserved break.
Even though it was probably the hottest day of they year, it was a beautiful and fun wedding and I enjoyed being part of it.  Congratulations Tamara and Bobby from Kurt Nielsen Photography.  May you have a long and happy life together!

Cristen and Jeremy’s Toledo Wedding by Kurt Nielsen Photography

Cristen and Jeremy were married on June 25, 2011 in a beautiful ceremony in the Atrium at the Ramada Hotel in Toledo surrounded by their family and friends.
They even had a personalized Unity Candle for their special day!
Before the ceremony began, I arrived early and captured the special images of the bride,  groom and wedding party getting ready along with some behind the scenes photos.

After the ceremony, we took more of the formal shots of the newlyweds.
We then adjourned to the Ramada’s Ballroom where Cristen and Jeremy’s colors of choice, Black and Purple, were displayed prominently.
The Champagne fountain was a hit!
The food was great!
The Wedding Cake from Eston’s Bakery was perfect, as usual.
It was obvious by Cristen’s protective garb, she was ready for a Cake War!
And war it was!
Don’t worry, it was love at first fight!
The couple danced their first dance as man and wife.
The bride tossed her bouquet.
Then, the groom, with help from some trusted adversaries, had a special surprise for his new bride!
It was a surprise honeymoon trip to Hawaii, complete with their own personal hula dancers!
And the bride was very excited and completely amazed at the gift!
Of course, the groom did finally toss the garter.
A great time was had by all for the entire evening!
Congratulations Cristen and Jeremy!  May you have many happy years together!
