Janelle and Alex were married on what was probably the hottest day of the year! It was over 100 degrees by the time their late afternoon outdoor wedding ceremony took place at Sylvania Country Club on July 7, 2012. This was also the first weekend after a massive storm went through the area and took down trees and knocked out power all over Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan. Luckily, Sylvania Country Club did not lose power and everything was on for Janelle and Alex’s special day. Here is their wedding story.
I arrived at La Luna Salon and Spa in Sylvania at 11am for the pre-wedding photos of the bride and her ladies getting the finishing touches on their hair and make-up.
From there it was on to Cleland’s Outdoor World for some fun shots of the groom and his gang relaxing before the wedding. We were a little bummed when we found out I couldn’t take photos into the range for some real action shots.
I arrived at Sylvania Country Club around 2:30 and while I was waiting for everyone else to arrive, I got some photos of all of the flowers from Keith Brooks Florist and the other details used for the wedding.
When the bridal party arrived, I took a few photos of their attire and accessories and a few photos of them getting ready in the locker rooms at the country club.
Once all of the ladies were fully dressed, it was time for some formal photos so we can have her hidden away when the guests arrive.
Then it was time to shoe away the bride and bring out the guys.
We had a little time to go back inside to cool off before the wedding started.
Finally, it was time for the ceremony to begin.
Luckily for all of us, it was a quick ceremony and there were no major problems with the heat. After the ceremony, the guests went inside to the lounge for cocktail hour while the bridal party and family members stayed outside for the formal portraits on the grounds of the golf course.
The bride and groom chose to have their receiving line inside while the guests were entering the main dining room after cocktail hour.
When all of the guests were seated, the wedding party made their grand entrance and went right into the speeches.
The bride wanted table shots (photos of all of the guests sitting at each table) of all of the guests, so during the dinner service, I went around the room and got most of them, and a few of the bride and groom mingling with their guests and some more of the detail shots.
After dinner, it was time to cut the beautiful cake from Eston’s Bakery.
Then they moved right into their first dance followed by the father-daughter dance and the mother-son dance.
When all of the formal parts of the wedding reception were finished, Josh from Decorative Sound opened the dance floor to everyone to dance the night away.
Congratulations Janelle and Alex. May you celebrate many more special occasions together.
